Delightful cookies that capture the essence of traditional crème brûlée in a handheld treat.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • Optional: Heavy cream for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  6. Scoop out balls of dough and place them on your prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
  7. Flatten each cookie slightly with your hand, and then sprinkle a small amount of granulated sugar on top.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Drizzle with heavy cream before serving, if desired.

Notes

For best results, make sure the butter is softened but not melted. Experiment with flavors by adding spices or chocolate chips.
