Delicate, airy heart-shaped macarons that blend nutty almond flavor with sweet buttercream or ganache.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon food coloring (optional)
  • Buttercream or ganache for filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the almond flour and powdered sugar.
  3. Whip the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the granulated sugar while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg whites, along with the vanilla extract and food coloring (if using).
  5. Transfer the batter to a piping bag.
  6. Pipe heart shapes onto the prepared baking sheet, giving them enough space.
  7. Let the piped macarons sit for 30-60 minutes until they develop a skin.
  8. Bake for about 15-20 minutes. Let them cool completely before filling with buttercream or ganache.

Notes
