Ingredients

  • Bread (your choice, such as sourdough or classic white)
  • Cheese (such as Cheddar, American, or Swiss)
  • Butter

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet.
  4. Add a generous layer of cheese on top of the bread in the skillet.
  5. Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side up.
  6. Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown, about 2-4 minutes.
  7. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side until golden and the cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from heat, cut in half, and serve.

Notes
