  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and red food coloring.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Fill the donut pan with the batter about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow the donuts to cool before glazing.
  8. For the cream cheese glaze, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar and milk until you reach your desired consistency.
  9. Dip the donuts in the glaze and let them set before serving.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month. Thaw, glaze, and enjoy!
