Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips (optional)
  • Nonstick spray or butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, whisking after each addition, then add vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and any optional add-ins.
  7. Spoon the mixture into the prepared pie dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 35–45 minutes or until edges are golden brown and center is slightly soft.
  9. Allow to cool for 15–20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or chocolate sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
