  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, food coloring, vanilla extract, and almond extract until fully incorporated.
  3. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  4. Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, scoop out balls of dough and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set and just beginning to turn a lovely golden color.
  6. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before dusting them lightly with powdered sugar. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
