  • 1 rack back pork ribs
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce
  • 2 tsp hickory liquid smoke
  • More Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce for serving
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ribs: Peel off the silver skin from the ribs to ensure tenderness.
  2. Cut for Convenience: Cut the rack into 4 sections for easy handling.
  3. Mix the Spice Rub: Combine brown sugar, onion powder, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in a bowl.
  4. Rub the Flavor In: Coat the ribs with the spice mix evenly.
  5. Load the Slow Cooker: Place ribs in the slow cooker, add water and hickory liquid smoke, then pour BBQ sauce over the ribs.
  6. Cover and Cook: Cook on low for 7-8 hours or on high for 4 hours until tender.
  7. The Finishing Touch: Brush ribs with warmed BBQ sauce before serving if desired.

Notes

For maximum tenderness, always peel off the silver skin. Add cayenne pepper for some heat if desired.
