Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pieces of chicken (legs, thighs, or breasts)
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken in a mixture of buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Prepare the flour mixture by combining the flour and cayenne pepper in another bowl.
  3. Dredge the marinated chicken in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to about 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the chicken pieces in the hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 15-18 minutes.
  6. Drain the fried chicken on paper towels and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Use chicken pieces with skin and bone for best flavor. Ensure the oil is hot before frying to achieve a crispy coating.
