A comforting dish featuring tender chicken, savory ham, and gooey cheese, all wrapped in a crispy coating, paired with a creamy mustard sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pieces Boneless Chicken Breasts (Thinly pound for even cooking.)
  • 4 slices Ham (Use Black Forest or Honey ham.)
  • 4 slices Swiss Cheese (Can substitute with Provolone or Gruyère.)
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour (Gluten-free flour works as an alternative.)
  • 2 large Eggs (Can use a plant-based milk mixture for a vegan option.)
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs (Choose gluten-free Panko if needed.)
  • 3 tablespoons Olive Oil (or Butter) (Essential for frying.)
  • 1 cup Mayonnaise (Greek yogurt can be a lighter option.)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard (Yellow mustard is a great alternative.)
  • 1 tablespoon Honey (Maple syrup is a delicious substitute.)
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice (Vinegar can also work well.)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce (optional) (Choose gluten-free versions as needed.)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste (Adjust according to your preferences.)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pound the boneless chicken breasts to an even thickness for even cooking.
  2. Assemble the Layers: Layer a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each chicken breast.
  3. Flour Coating: Set up a breading station with flour, whisked eggs, and panko breadcrumbs. Dip each chicken piece in flour, egg, and panko, pressing to coat.
  4. Heat the Oil: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat to coat the bottom of the pan.
  5. Fry the Chicken: Fry the breaded chicken for about 4-5 minutes on each side until crispy and golden brown.
  6. Make the Creamy Mustard Sauce: Mix mayo, Dijon mustard, honey, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoning together.
  7. Drain and Serve: Place fried chicken on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil and serve with the creamy mustard sauce.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt, and for more crunch, ensure the Panko is well coated on the chicken.
