A delightful dessert that warms the heart, perfect for using up leftover bread and satisfying your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of bread (cubed)
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Butter (for greasing the baking dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Add the cubed bread to the mixture and gently fold until the bread is coated.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Let it cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, drizzled with warm vanilla sauce.

Notes

Use day-old bread for best texture; mix in dried fruits or nuts for added flavor. Can be prepared ahead of time.
