Soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls smothered in cream cheese glaze, perfect for a cozy morning.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine warmed milk, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Stir until incorporated, then sprinkle in the yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes, until foamy.
  2. Add in the eggs, flour, and salt. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 5-10 minutes. Transfer to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 2 hours or overnight in the fridge.
  3. Roll the dough: On a lightly floured surface, flatten the dough into a rectangle. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle brown sugar, and cinnamon evenly across.
  4. Shape the rolls: Starting from one end, roll the dough into a tight log and slice into 12 equal pieces.
  5. Rise again: Place sliced rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise until double in size, about 30-60 minutes.
  6. Bake to perfection: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Prepare the glaze: While the rolls cool, whip together cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  8. Glaze and serve: Drizzle cream cheese glaze over warm rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, let the dough rise overnight in the fridge. Consider adding nuts or dried fruits for variations.
