Delicate and festive macarons perfect for holiday gatherings and gifting, filled with buttercream or ganache.

Ingredients

  • 100g almond flour
  • 100g powdered sugar
  • 75g egg whites
  • 100g granulated sugar
  • Food coloring (red or green)
  • Buttercream or ganache (for filling)
  • Sprinkles or edible decorations

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar.
  3. Beat the egg whites in a separate bowl until soft peaks form. Gradually add in the granulated sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold the almond flour mixture into the egg whites until combined. Add food coloring to achieve your desired color.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Allow the macarons to sit for 30 minutes to develop a skin.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the shells are firm. Let cool completely.
  8. Fill half of the shells with buttercream or ganache and sandwich with the other half.
  9. Decorate with sprinkles or painted details as desired.
