Delicious and warm cheesy garlic rolls, perfect for sharing or enjoying alongside your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F or 43°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried parsley)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  3. Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the melted butter, egg, and frothy yeast mixture.
  4. Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon until it starts to come together, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  6. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, parsley, black pepper, and onion powder.
  7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface, then roll it into a rectangle (about 12×8 inches).
  8. Spread the garlic mixture over the dough, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  9. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces. Place them in a greased baking dish, cut side up.
  10. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise for about 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. Let cool slightly before serving, optionally brushing with extra melted butter.

Notes

Leftover rolls can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days or frozen for up to a month. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes.
