A warm and hearty casserole combining ground beef, cabbage, and rice with a rich tomato sauce for a comforting family meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the rice, cabbage, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano until combined.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45-50 minutes.
  6. Add cheese during the last 10 minutes if desired.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Great served with crusty bread or a fresh salad. Leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days in the fridge.
