  • 1 cup chocolate chips or nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, packed brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if desired.
  7. Drop rounded balls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

Make sure to use softened butter for the best texture. You can also chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for enhanced flavors.
