A delightful hybrid of chewy chocolate chip cookies and fudgy brownies, enhanced with the rich flavor of brown butter.

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden and nutty, then cool slightly.
  3. Mix the brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well blended.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl and gradually add it to the wet mixture, stirring in the chocolate chips.
  6. Spread the cookie dough in the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  7. Prepare the brownie batter by mixing melted butter, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour, baking powder, and salt until smooth.
  8. Layer the brownie batter over the cookie dough, spreading it evenly.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool slightly before slicing into squares.

Notes

For extra chewiness, chill the cookie dough for 30 minutes before layering. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
