A comforting baked ziti dish that combines the favorite flavors of pizza with cheesy pasta, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef or sausage
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti according to package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
  4. Add ground beef or sausage to the skillet, and cook until browned.
  5. Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. In a large bowl, combine the cooked ziti, ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, and the meat sauce mixture. Stir gently to mix.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Try not to overcook the pasta; it should be just under al dente, as it will continue cooking in the oven.
