  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup (4 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips or chocolate chunks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the butter in a large bowl and heat it in your microwave or on a double boiler until melted.
  2. Add the dark brown sugar and granulated sugar to the hot butter and whisk vigorously.
  3. Add the room temperature eggs and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and whisk until smooth.
  4. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda, and fold in any chocolate chips or chunks.
  5. Pour the batter into a prepared baking dish, ensuring an even spread.
  6. Place your baking dish in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool in the dish for about 10 to 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Slice your brownies into squares and serve with optional toppings like ice cream or nuts.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature eggs and avoid overmixing the batter after adding dry ingredients.
