A delightful twist on classic apple fritters that are baked for a guilt-free indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then add in the milk and vanilla extract. Stir to combine.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the diced apples.
  6. In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium heat.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Transfer the fritters to the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly.
  10. Dust the baked apple fritters with powdered sugar before serving.
