A delightful twist on traditional lasagna featuring layers of creamy cottage cheese, marinara sauce, and gooey mozzarella, perfect for family gatherings.

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups cottage cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with olive oil.
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine cottage cheese, egg, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Spread a layer of marinara sauce in the bottom of the baking dish, ensuring it covers the entire base.
  5. Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, aligning them side by side.
  6. Spread half of the cottage cheese mixture over the noodles, ensuring an even layer across.
  7. Add a generous layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the cottage cheese mixture.
  8. Repeat the layers in the following order: sauce, noodles, cottage cheese mixture, and mozzarella.
  9. For the final layer, place the last 3 noodles on top. Cover with the remaining marinara sauce and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  10. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. After this, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

This lasagna is a great make-ahead meal. It can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
